Abstract in English
This master's research presents considerations about the poetic and journalistic production of Mozambican Noémia de Sousa from a historical perspective and a biographical approach, anchored in the articulation between her writings, intellectual connections and acting as a historical agent in interaction and dialogue with different contexts and actors. It discusses how Sousa's verses were able to spread his perspective on the black and anticolonial cause in the environment of Lourenço Marques and how this was related to his journalistic intervention in the newspaper O Brado Africano, in which he coordinated the Page for Women. For this, bibliographic research and analysis of documentary sources of literary works, press and interviews were used as a method for data collection. From the understanding of the documentation it was possible to perceive Sousa's performance in the African Association and in the newspaper O Brado Africano, identifying debates and conflicts related to the social engagement of men and women and their resistance strategies linked to the circulation of ideas among African intellectuals and the diaspora. It is also evident that the thematic innovation of Sousa's poetry, in line with his strongly anticolonial positioning in journalistic texts, reflected an experience concerned with marginalized subjects who were part of his daily life in the light of his intellectual formation. The voices he incorporated were synthesized in such a way as to form a plural black identity, without neglecting the elements of modernity to amplify a discourse of black, feminine and colonial emancipation.
