Esta pesquisa se debruça sobre a presença e atuação de fascistas e antifascistas na Società Sportiva Palestra Italia (atual Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras), agremiação fundada em 1914 com o objetivo de representar a coletividade italiana no ambiente futebolístico paulista. Estabelecendo comparações e relações entre aspectos da vida social, política e cultural de São Paulo durante a Primeira República, são apresentados os grupos e agentes políticos que protagonizaram as lutas sociais na cidade, bem como seus enredamentos com a existência de uma numerosa coletividade italiana emigrada, e a incidência do fascismo e do antifascismo nestes grupos sociais. A seguir, é traçado um panorama da prática futebolística durante o mesmo período, identificando tensões e negociações entre a esfera do chamado futebol oficial e outros futebóis, e comentando particularmente a trajetória do Palestra Italia ao longo de suas primeiras décadas. Com base nesta contextualização, são apresentados os resultados da pesquisa documental realizada, identificando a presença de fascistas e antifascistas organizados dentro do clube, suas atividades, e os processos de disputa, negociação e reelaboração das identidades palestrinas ao longo de todo o período desta atuação política, demarcado entre 1923, data de fundação do Fascio di San Paolo, e 1945, data do fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial.

This dissertation investigates the presence and acts of fascists and anti fascists in the Società Sportiva Palestra Italia (currently Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras), association founded in 1914 to represent the italian community in São Paulo's football landscape. Establishing comparisons and relations among aspects of social, cultural and political life in São Paulo during the First Republic, we present the political groups and agents that played a relevant role in the political struggles in the city, as well as their involvement with a collectivity of italian immigrants and the fascist and anti facist tendencies in all these different groups. We then offer an overview of football during that same period, identifying tensions and negotiations among the spheres of the so called official football and other footballs, while commenting specifically on Palestra Itália's trajectory during its first decades. Based on this contextualization we then present the results of our documentary research, that identifies the presence of fascists and anti fascists organized within the club. We describe their activities, disputes, negotiations and the re-elaboration of the team's different identities over the period of its political activities, between the foundation of the Fascio di San Paolo in 1923, and the end of World War II in 1945.
