Com base na idéia de que a experiência extática (mística/diabólica) se constitui como uma experiência limite, e articulando os aspectos sócio-culturais e psico-patológicos, esta Pesquisa procura analisar, através de uma abordagem comparativa, um aspecto do novo modelo de espiritualidade que gerou uma onda de fervor místico sem precedentes na Europa e, particularmente, na Península Ibérica nos séculos XVII-XVIII - as relações entre bodas místicas e casamentos diabólicos no contexto luso-brasileiro - com o objetivo de examinar as possíveis persistências e/ou singularidades ocorridas nos dois lados do Atlântico

Based on the idea of the ecstatic experience (mystical/diabolical) could be as a borderline experience, and articulating the social-cultural and psycho-pathological aspects this Research intends to análise, in comparative terms, a new aspect model of spirituality which generated a mystical fervor wave without precedent in Europe and particularly in Iberian Peninsula in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries - the relations between mystical and diabolical marriages at the Luso-Brazilian context - with the aims to examinate the possible persistent and/or singularities occurred in the both sides of Atlantic Ocean
