Abstract in English
This work aims to analyze how consumption goods, including luxury goods, were fundamental for the structuring of São Paulo's funk culture between 1995 and 2014. Through the perspective of the material culture and the theoretical horizon of the History of Present Time we argue that the appropriation of artifacts historically disseminated among the upper social classes by funkeiros - lower middle class - was not an attempt by this class to emulate that class, but a broader and more complex historical process. Based on the concept of body synthesis operated by Jean-Pierre Warnier (1999) it was possible to analyze journalistic reports, song lyrics and video clips to demonstrate how the specific materiality appropriated by funkeiros was not a proposal to reproduce the habitus (BOURDIEU, 2015) of wealthy segments of society. On the contrary, we understand in this dissertation that the materiality was the matrix of subjectivization of the subjects of São Paulo's funk culture, who incorporated in a sui generis way the motor dynamics of the artifacts to their own body dynamics. The relationship with luxury had a different impact between men and women shared the funk culture. Such differences were analyzed here also from the material dimension, that is, from bodies and repertoires placed in specific situations of gender.
