Abstract in English
This research aims to analyze the construction of memories of Elisa Lynch, an Irish woman, and the mistress-wife of Francisco Solano López, president of Paraguay from 1862 to 1870. By being involved directly in the War of the Triple Alliance (18641870) in South America, one of the main foundations of the Paraguayan national narrative, Elisa Lynch had her life trajectory rewritten in several biographical works that relates to the different historiographical revisionisms about the armed conflict. Besides exploring this aspect, this research will examine the positions and political interests that hide behind the exaltation or rejection of Madame Lynch between the end of the War of the Triple Aliance and the dictatorship led by Alfredo Stroessner.
