Este trabalho tem como objeto de estudo a análise das reportagens fotográficas da revista The National Geographic Magazine sobre os países latino-americanos, entre 1895 e 1914. A partir da fotografia de imprensa, buscou-se compreender como foram criadas ou remodeladas imagens sobre o espaço geográfico-cultural América Latina. Além disso, a pesquisa procurou compreender, no imaginário difundido pela revista - que também dialoga com outras tradições da fotografia e pintura - o uso político dessas imagens

The objective of this report is the study and analysis of the photographic articles of The National Geographic magazine on Latin American Countries from 1895 to 1914. From the press photograph, we tried to understand how geographic and cultural images of Latin America were created or even remodeled. Besides it, this research tries to make comprehensive the political use of such images which also keeps a dialog with other photographic and painting traditions
