Faz um esboço biográfico sobre Paracelso. Expõe um panorama da medicina da antiguidade clássica à Renascença. Apresenta a obra de Paracelso, enfatizando o homem e a natureza e o problema do conhecimento dentro da mesma. Mostra a obra médico-patológica de Paracelso e demonstra a relação da obra do mesmo com o aparecimento da Iatroquímica, alquimia medicinal, destacando a importância desta para o posterior desenvolvimento da química.
