Nosso objetivo, no presente trabalho, foi pesquisar aspectos da trajetória associativa da fração industrial da burguesia paulista na agitada década de 1920. A pesquisa busca compreender o caráter político de classe da formação das três principais entidades patronais desse período: a Associação Comercial de São Paulo - ACSP; o Centro Industrial de Fiação e Tecelagem de São Paulo - CIFTSP; e do Centro Industrial do Estado de São Paulo - CIESP. Nossa principal hipótese é de que a coesão e identidade constituída pela fração indústria na última década da Primeira República resultou dos agudos enfrentamentos entre o capital e o trabalho. A expansão da indústria paulista na década de 1920 ampliou a importância social do operariado fabril em São Paulo, que havia atingido 150 mil pessoas em 1928. As severas regras de exploração capitalista da força de trabalho se converteram numa fratura aberta nas relações de classe. A luta por direitos a salários dignos, organização e direitos sociais impeliram os industriais a transformar sua associação de classe em verdadeiros organismos políticos de resistência, cuja ação se dava no espaço fabril e no parlamento. Aliados da burguesia agroexportadora, os industriais paulistas construíram um programa seu baseado na defesa ideológica do industrialismo como suporte para organização da sociedade inspirada em preceitos politécnicos.

Our objective, in the present work, was to research the aspects of the associative trajectory of São Paulo bourgeoisie's industrial fraction during the agitated 1920s. The research seeks to understand the political class nature of the formation of the three main employer entities of this period: the Commercial Association of São Paulo - ACSP; São Paulo Spinning and Weaving Industrial Center - CIFTSP; and the Industrial Center of São Paulo State - CIESP. Our main hypothesis is that the cohesion and identity constituted by the industry fraction in the last decade of the First Republic resulted from the sharp confrontations between capital and work. The expansion of São Paulo industry in the 1920s increased the social importance of the industrial working class in the city, which had reached 150,000 people in 1928. The severe rules of capitalist exploitation of the workforce became an open fracture in class relations. The struggle for the right to decent living wages, organization, and social rights impelled the industrialists to transform their class association into true political resistance bodies, whose action took place in the factory space and in parliament. Allied with the agro-export bourgeoisie, São Paulo's industrialists built their program based on the ideological defense of industrialism as a support for the organization of a society inspired by polytechnic precepts.
