Este trabalho tem como um dos seus principais objetivos investigar os mecanis-mos de produção social do espaço e suas relações com a loucura na metrópole contempo-rânea, tomando como referência os aportes teórico-metodológicos oriundos da geografia crítica na sua vertente marxista-lefevbriana. A diversidade de interpretações sobre o fe-nômeno da loucura, no contexto urbano, por muitas vezes deixou em suspensão os possí-veis nexos entre a questão espacial, as enfermidades mentais e as possibilidades de reabi-litação e reinserção sociais dentro do paradigma do tratamento comunitário, ou, então, foram considerados a partir de certa compreensão do espaço assumida pelas diversas áreas que compõem o campo da saúde, especificamente da saúde mental. Desta maneira, pre-tende-se analisar as possibilidades colocadas pela produção do espaço e seus determinan-tes na reabilitação e reinserção de pessoas com transtornos mentais graves, assim como estabelecer um diálogo com algumas trazidas pelo campo da saúde sobre esses desafios à luz das categorias lefebvrianas de espaço e cotidiano. O objeto escolhido para o desen-volvimento desta pesquisa são os Serviços Residenciais Terapêuticos (SRTs) da cidade de São Paulo, locais determinados pelo poder público exclusivamente como moradia com a função de promover a reinserção social e auxiliar na reabilitação psicossocial de pessoas egressas de longas internações em hospitais psiquiátricos e que perderam laços familiares e socio afetivos mais gerais (ou mesmo para aqueles indivíduos que mantiveram algum vínculo precário) fora das instituições hospitalares

One of the main objectives of this study is to investigate the mechanisms of social production of space and its relations with madness in the contemporary metropolis, taking as reference the theoretical-methodological contributions of critical geography in its Marxist-Lefevbrian perspective. The multiplicity of interpretations about the phenomenon of madnessin the urban contexto has often left in suspension the possible links between the spatial issue, mental illness and the possibilities of rehabilitation and social reinsertion within the paradigm of community treatment, or else, were considered based on a certain understanding of the space assumed by the different areas that comprise the field of health, specifically mental health. Therefore, it is intended to analyze the possibilities raised by the production of space and its determinants in the rehabilitation and reinsertion of people with severe mental disorders, as well as to establish a dialogue with some possibilities brought by the health field about these challenges in the light of the Lefebvrian categories of space and everyday life. The chosen object for the development of this research are the Serviços Residenciais Terapêuticos (SRT's) in the city of São Paulo, these are places determined by the public authorities exclusively as housing with the function of promoting social reintegration and helping in the psychosocial rehabilitation of people who have been hospitalized for a long time in psychiatric hospitals and people who have lost family and more general socio-affective ties (or even for those individuals who have maintained some precarious ties) outside hospital institutions
