A cidade-região de Franco da Rocha (SP) está localizado na zona norte da Região Metropolitana de São Paulo e tem a sua gênese a partir da instalação da linha férrea da São Paulo Railway (Estrada de Ferro Santos-Jundiaí) e da criação do Hospital Psiquiátrico do Juquery, elementos estruturantes na formação socioespacial local. Atualmente inundações no período de cheias do Rio Juqueri produzem impactos na vidada população local, assim sendo, este trabalho tem como objetivo mensurar a qualidade de vida da população através do Índice de Qualidade de Vida Urbana através de variáveis que envolvam a Qualidade Ambiental, indicadores Socioeconômico e de Educação, sendo a as áreas suscetíveis à inundação uma das variáveis estruturantes para a confecção de tal índice.

The municipality of Franco da Rocha (SP) is located in the northern part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo and has its genesis from the installation of the railway line of the São Paulo Railway (Santos-Jundiaí Railroad) and the creation of the Hospital Juquery Psychiatric, Structuring Elements in Local Socio-Spatial Formation. Currently, floods in the Juqueri River flood period produce impacts on the life of the local population, therefore, this work aims to measure the quality of life of the population through the Urban Life Quality Index through variables involving Environmental Quality, Socioeconomic indicators and Education, with areas susceptible to flooding being one of the structuring variables for making such an index.
