Abstract in English
Even with the crisis of urbanization in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, the metropolis remains a concept permeated by two fundamental criteria: first, its formation and composition remain in constant motion, enabling various meanings and meanings; Second, however open these meanings and meanings may be, capitalism remains a determinant that shapes and updates the metropolis institutionally. The metropolis of São Paulo in the 21st century is made up of 39 municipalities, among them is the city of Franco da Rocha. Located in the northwest of the metropolis, in the last decade Franco da Rocha has housed nine penal establishments. These penal establishments are part of a mass incarceration movement that expands the prison logic to the interior and the surroundings of the state capital, thus configuring what can be called the interiorization and metropolization of the Paulista prisons. The objective of this work is to investigate the metropolization of prisons in greater São Paulo through the city of Franco da Rocha.
