Esta pesquisa surge como possibilidade de investigação sobre como determinadas ideias passaram a ser atreladas a esta região do país, a partir dos livros didáticos de geografia. Buscando problematizar na da região Nordeste os motivos que acabaram por dar conformação a um conjunto de imagens e discursos que passam a configurar uma determinada representação sobre este recorte espacial. Em alguns casos, tomadas como essência deste espaço. No sentido de entender o que ainda se fazia presente nestes discursos, busquei revisitar o passado, reconhecendo que a compreensão deste recorte espacial passa necessariamente pelo resgate da complexidade histórica que envolve sua existência. A pesquisa prioriza a metade da década do século XX, mais precisamente de 1905, ano no qual Said Ali sugere no livro didático Geografia Elementar uma divisão do Brasil, onde dentre as porções encontramos Brasil de Nordeste e prosseguimos até 1950, data onde as discussões sobre o Nordeste se intensificam. Os livros didáticos surgem como fontes para esta apreensão, já que possibilitam perceber o que foi enunciado como sendo o Nordeste em um dado período da história da geografia escolar. Pensar na construção e consolidação de uma região como o Nordeste, atrelado a determinadas representações que possibilitaram o surgimento e a repetição de discursos assertivos, requer ter em mente os interesses em jogo a cada nova configuração desta região, a cada novo acontecimento. Espera-se que as análises e conclusões ora apresentadas neste trabalho contribuam para as novas pesquisas que vêm sendo desenvolvidas por estudiosos e acadêmicos sobre o livro didático de geografia, bem como o Nordeste. Servindo de estimulo no desenvolvimento de novos conhecimentos, principalmente àqueles que têm como foco a história da geografia enquanto disciplina escolar.
