Abstract in English
This study analyzes performance of South American immigrant female activists, members of social movements or with autonomous acting, who participate daily in the (re)production of the São Paulo social space, considering them as active and political subjects, despite their restrict autonomy to participate fully in political life, given the impossibility of voting and being voted in Brazil. It brings to the academic debate the obstacles experienced by women to participate, as far as they are allowed and authorized, in the construction of public policies aimed at general women, immigrant women and, also, the population of different nationalities residing in São Paulo. The study took place in the context of the city of São Paulo, which was the first in the country to regulate the policy aimed at the immigrant population with guarantees of access to basic universal rights, such as health and education, regardless of the documentary situation of the immigrant person. In this city there are several manifestations, demands, events, meetings, debates and exchanges about the migratory cause, as the March of Immigrants; seminars on immigrant women and public policies; municipal immigration policy conferences; and the VII edition of the World Social Forum on Migration. South American immigrant female activists were present at all these events, which is why it is important to analyze their performance in the São Paulo socio-political context. The study had as a research method foucauldian analysis discourse, considered gender as a central category of analysis, having as reference the concept of Judith Butler, and its intersection with migration, class, race and ethnicity, based on the arguments of Souza-Lobo and Flávia Biroli. The production of the space was analyzed using Henri Lefebvre and Joseli Maria Silva as references. The concept of intercultural transversal action is presented for the way these activists act in a dialectical way, participating and resisting in all the processes that are involved, maintaining their positions and their origins, their identities, their stories and their voices. Despite the severals barriers imposed for the participation of immigrant South American women activists in debates, dialogues and the construction of public policies, from relevant issues of the patriarchal capitalist society to coping with the silencing and erasing of their voices and their claims, the study revealed that activists break the impositions of the gender produced by the sexual division of labor in the convergence with migration, class, race and ethnicity. New relationships are produced from their strategies and resistance, which insert them in the public sphere and in the political debate - in view of the impositions experienced by her condition as an immigrant woman, by the hierarchies imposed by class divisions, by structural racism, by misogyny and xenophobia. It is added that these activists conquer spaces, mobilize and articulate other women to insert claims into political debate as related to gender issues and the immigrant population, mainly those relative to female portion.
