O trabalho tem como objeto a análise do processo de produção das cidades toscanas nos séculos XIII e XIV. Para tanto, baseamo-nos na relação entre a História e a Geografia, tendo como foco de atenção a constituição do espaço urbano medieval. A dissertação procura ainda compreender a mudança da percepção do espaço pelo homem nesse momento histórico específico e na região estudada, analisando as representações pictóricas de Giotto e Ambrogio Lorenzetti. No estudo do fenômeno urbano toscano, vemos que as representações destes artistas, sobretudo devido à reintrodução da perspectiva no desenho, expressam a visão do espaço urbano engendrada na sociedade medieval. Ressaltamos que podemos observar uma relação entre o processo concreto de constituição das cidades medievais e a transformação da representação do espaço ocorrida nos séculos XIII e XIV na Toscana

The subject of this work is to analyse the production process of the Tuscany cities in the XIII and XIV centuries. We base this study on the relation between History and Geography, by focusing on the constitution of medieval urban space. The text aims to comprehend the change in the perception of space in that specific historical moment and in the studied region, throughout the analysis of the Giotto and Ambrogio Lorenzetti pictorial representations. In the study of the Tuscany urban phenomenon, we consider that the representations of those artists, especially due to the reintroduction of perspective in painting, express the vision of urban space conceived in the medieval society. We remark that we observe a relation between the concrete constitution process of the medieval cities and the transformation of the space representation that was introduced in XIII and XIV centuries in Tuscany
