Impact of organic vegetable cultivation on soil edaphic potential in the green belt of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, SP

Abstract in English
comparative analysis was carried out on the effects on soil edaphic potential under organic and conventional management of vegetable cultivation, having as reference the soils under native forest, close to the cultivation areas, in the Ibiúna region, which makes up the green belt of the São Paulo metropolitan region. We sought to carry out this analysis through chemical and physical parameters already enshrined in the Soil Classification Systems and / or widely used in research that subsidize technical assistance in the context of conventional agriculture. The parameters used were: pH, organic matter content, nutrients, sum of bases (S), base saturation (V¨%), cation exchange capacity (CTC), texture, density, porosity, mechanical impedance and stability of aggregates in water. The results evidenced the greater efficiency of organic management in maintaining the soil edaphic potential, however the volumes of vegetable mass necessary for the maintenance of this potential through composting are high and, added to the necessary replacement due to the high export of nutrients with the harvests, it practically makes it unfeasible for small family producers to maintain fertility without resorting in large part to certified industrialized inputs, which inserts them within the capitalist logic of agribusiness and confronts the original philosophy of organic agriculture, which proposed the use of available or close resources of the property itself and raise the question of the feasibility of following these original assumptions in view of the demands imposed by the market
