Abstract in English
The world population is close to reaching 8 billion inhabitants, however, only in the 21st century the urban population surpassed the rural population. As urban areas worldwide increase, many facilities have been achieved, however many adversities are part of the daily lives of city dwellers, traffic, violence, pollution. One of the adversities is the alterations caused by the change in the surface and construction of cities, which alters the local climate and favors the occurrence of heat islands. The present work evaluated the occurrence of heat islands in the urban area in the city of Taubaté, located in the southeast region of the state of São Paulo, in the metropolitan region of Vale do Paraíba. The study was carried out with the adoption of the mobile transects methodology. 18 mobile transects were carried out, 9 during winter and 9 during summer, simultaneously, with orientation from south to north and west to east during the month of July 2019, on the 18th, 19th and 20th, and January 2020, on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 9th, at three different times of the day, 5 hours and 10 minutes, from 2 pm to 8 pm. Temperature and relative humidity data were collected along the paths. Data analysis took into account the variation of urbanization and land use to verify the differences in temperature between the points of the transects. The results showed that the more urbanized areas are warmer than the less urbanized areas during the afternoon, night and dawn. The intensities of the heat islands were higher during the winter season than during the summer season, in addition to presenting the largest sweeps of relative humidity. On all routes, the occurrence of heat islands was detected, however, depending on the time and weather season, with different intensities. It was concluded that the heat island is present in the urban area of the city and that the highest intensities occur, mainly at night during the winter, while in the summer, the afternoon period also presented an important variation in air temperature, considering the records along the transects.
