A proposição da pesquisa prende-se ao nosso interesse maior ligado à Geomorfologia, e, dentre os seus diferentes enfoques, à compreensão da "Dinâmica Atual das Vertentes". Tal interesse vem nos acompanhando desde os trabalhos em área tropical permanentemente úmida, realizado de 1976 a 1983 para a dissertação de mestrado sobre "Os Processos de movimentos de massa e a Evolução das vertentes na Serra do Mar em Cubatão - SP".
