Esta dissertação busca, através de uma discussão da noção de escrita, apresentar um conjunto de problemas conceituais atualmente em debate na etnologia americanista em torno da ideia de tradução intersemiótica. Ela recorre, em primeiro lugar, a trabalhos recentes de síntese teórica e a certo número de etnografias mais específicas para caracterizar as distintas propostas conceituais em disputa. Em segundo lugar, reconhecendo, em parte importante deste debate, um conjunto de problemas análogo ao que, ao longo do século XX, definiu a tensão entre linguística e semiótica e ao qual dá o nome de problema semiológico busca mostrar o interesse de retomar certas referências dessas disciplinas, bem como da teoria da informação. Para tanto, recorre, em especial, à linguística estrutural (tanto na tradição fonológica de Roman Jakobson quanto na proposta glossemática de Louis Hjelmslev), que serve então de fio condutor da primeira parte do trabalho. Em terceiro lugar, tendo mostrado de que modo a noção de escrita funciona como articulador central do complexo problemático em questão, lança um olhar sobre o problema da escrita nos casos clássicos da arqueologia do Oriente Próximo e do helenismo, para aí reconhecer dilemas conceituais comparáveis aos da etnologia atual. Essa revisão, ponto de partida da segunda parte do trabalho, permite uma releitura da célebre lição de escrita de Lévi-Strauss, que de certo modo sintetiza os dilemas do debate. Em último lugar, deve-se observar que o tratamento desses diferentes conjuntos bibliográficos se inspira no trabalho de Jacques Derrida, demonstrando certas afinidades e tensões entre o trabalho filosófico da desconstrução e o trabalho conceitual etnológico.

This discussion of the concept writing strives to lay out a set of conceptual problems currently on debate in Americanist ethnology, which revolve around the notion of intersemiotic translation (or transmutation). It makes use, in the first place, of recent works of theoretical synthesis and of a certain number of more specific ethnographies to charcaterize the main conceptual proposals currently undergoing dispute. Secondly, given its recognition of a set of problems analogous to that which, in the course of the XXth century, defined the tension between linguistics and semiotics and which we here call the semiological problem it seeks to show the interest of recovering some references coming from these disciplines, as well as from information theory. It makes special use of structural linguistics (in both the phonological tradition of Roman Jakobson, and the glossematic perspective of Louis Hjelmlsev), which serves as a guide to the first part of this work. Thirdly, having shown how the notion of writing articulates the whole set, it glances at the problem of writing in the classics cases of hellenistic studies and the archaeology of the ancient Near East, where it finds conceptual dilemmas similar to those of contemporary ethnology. This revision, which starts off the second part of the work, allows us to rediscuss Lévi- Strauss famous writing lesson, a text which partly synthesises the whole debate. Finally, it is worth noting that the treatment given to these different aspects finds its inspiration in the work of Jacques Derrida, so that certain affinities and tensions between the conceptual work of ethnology and the philosophical work of deconstruction are suggested.
