Abstract in English
This dissertation presents El baile del Muñeco within the general context of the dances from the Lower Caquetá region in the Colombian Amazon. Based on available scholarship, I will explain the aspects related to the participant groups, the area that circumscribes the dance, its origin, and the elements associated with its planning and performance. Since El baile del Muñeco is the only dance that contemplates the use of masks in this area, I will explore and suggest possible connections with other dances where the use of masks has also been documented in neighboring territories, as is the case of the Alto Negro river and the Puré, Orinoco, and Amazon rivers.
