Esta dissertação tem como ponto de partida os itinerários cotidianos das mulheres que vivem na periferia sul de São Paulo. Meu objetivo é mostrar que a circulação cotidiana é fundamental para os processos de apropriação e do fazer cidade e para compreender as questões de mobilidade em si. Mais ainda, ela é estrutural para pensar a vida social e a produção de sujeitos, relações, diferenças e desigualdades. A partir do trabalho etnográfico, percorro junto às mulheres os caminhos da diferença. Eles são abertura para lugares, de afeto e pertencimento; de fazer a vida mas também de subalternidade; para sentimentos morais e para significados mais ou menos opacos de violência. Entrelaçando movimento, espaço, tempo e marcadores sociais da diferença, procuro compreender como os trânsitos das mulheres costuram tramas com outras esferas, como família, trabalho, saúde, maternidade, educação, afeto e expectativas para o futuro. Nesse percurso, tenho como hipótese que as inter-relações estabelecidas em meio à produção de diferenças e desigualdades produzem subjetividades e modos de os sujeitos experienciarem a cidade. Argumento que essas experiências constroem conhecimentos encarnados, percepções de distância e proximidade sobre o espaço físico e sobre as relações interpessoais.

This dissertation departs from the daily itineraries of women who live in the southern periphery of São Paulo. My objective is to show that the daily circulation is fundamental for the processes of appropriation and making of the city, as well as for the understanding of mobility issues. Furthermore, circulation is structural to thinking about social life and the production of subjects, relationships, differences and inequalities. Based on ethnographic work, I walk the paths of difference with women. They are an opening to places of affection and belonging; life making and subordination; for moral feelings and for the more or less opaque meanings of violence. Interweaving movement, space, time, and social markers of difference, I seek to understand how women's mobilities weave threads with other spheres, such as family, work, health, motherhood, education, affection and expectations for the future. Along this path, I have as a hypothesis that the interrelations established in the midst of the production of differences and inequalities produce subjectivities and ways for these women to experience the city. I argue that these experiences build embodied knowledge, perceptions of distance and proximity about both the physical space and interpersonal relationships.
