Abstract in English
Self-defense emerges as a corpographic tactic in collective networks to confront violent spaces - symbolic, institutional, physically and psychologically - to gender-deviant bodies. In other words, self-defense exists where there is identifiable violence - and, minimally, prescribed by law. The effectiveness of self-defense increases when it is possible to relate it to lifestyles, social markers, territorial variation, corporeality, access and inclusion to autonomist practices and pre-existing skills of those who formulate it. In this work, I present some concepts and field experiences extracted from the follow-up to feminist and cuir self-defense groups in Brazil, focusing on the classes of the Icamiaba project, based in the center of São Paulo. The main objective of the research was to understand how body constructions, gender, territoriality affected the safety and strategies of LGBTQIA + people in the city of São Paulo.
