Title in Portuguese
A naturalização do mal e a necessidade do pecado contra o livre-arbítrio da vontade no de libero arbitrio III de Agostinho de Hipona
Keywords in Portuguese
Livre-arbítrio
Mal
Natureza
Necessidade
Vontade

The naturalization of evil and the necessity of sin against the free will of Augustine of Hippo in libero arbitrio III

Abstract in English
The present dissertation intends to examine the deterministic character of the questions raised by Evódio in III, i - iv of de libero arbitrio in order to understand whether the movement by which the human will turns against the supreme good and converts to inferior goods is natural or voluntary. It's about understanding why, according to Augustine, it is not contradictory and incompatible that the free will of the human will is the fruit of God's initiative, but evil is not, consequently, natural. Also, it's not contradictory and incompatible that God knows all future events beforehand and yet the free will of the will is the cause of evil without being propelled by divine foreknowledge. In other words, we intend, therefore, to understand the discourse by which Augustine affirms at the same time: a) the divine goodness and foreknowledge b) the natural goodness of human will and c) the willingness of evil.
