Para tanto, os capítulos desta dissertação apresentarão os quatro artigos que compõem a questão citada mostrando como Tomás distingue diferentes operações do intelecto e modos de abstração ao considerar o modo de proceder das três partes das ciências especulativas: a matemática, a física e a metafísica.

This dissertation deals with the role of abstraction in speculative sciences as exposed mainly in the 5th question of Thomas Aquinas's Super Boetium De Trinitate. For this purpose, the chapters of this dissertation will follow the four articles that make up the question showing how Aquinas distinguishes different operations of the intellect and ways of abstraction while considering the way of proceeding of the three parts of the speculative sciences: mathematics, physics, and metaphysics.
