Na questão 7 da introdução das Quaestiones in Metaphysicam (edição Dunphy, 1981,manuscrito Munique, Clm 9559, fol. 93r-118v), Sigério de Brabant defende três tesescomplementares: a) o "sujeito" da Metafísica seria o "ente enquanto ente"; b) o serpertenceria à essência dos causados; c) os termos "ente" e "coisa" significam a mesmaessência e intenção diferindo no modo de significação correspondente a cada um dostermos: o termo "coisa" significaria a essência e a intenção a modo de hábito e o termo"ente" significaria a essência e a intenção a modo de ato. Nesta dissertação,explicitaremos as condições de possibilidade das teses defendidas por Sigério deBrabant, a partir de um comentário detido do texto em questão. Ademais, essecomentário será precedido por um balanço da bibliografia contemporânea sobre oproblema ressaltado. De modo geral, defendemos que os comentadores oferecem chavesde leitura relevantes para a leitura do texto, contudo eles não explicitam o modo comoSigério conseguiria defender sua posição e, por isso, fez-se mister um comentário maisdetido do texto.

In the question 7 of Quaestiones in Metaphysicam (Dunphy's edition, 1981, Munich'smanuscript, Clm 9559, fol. 93r-118v), Siger of Brabant sustains three complementarythesis: a) the "being as being" (ens inquantum ens / ens secundum quod est ens) is the"subject" of Metaphysics; b) The "being" (esse) belongs to the essence of caused beings(ens); c) the terms "being" (ens) and "thing" (res) signify the same essence andintention, differing about the mode of signification (modus significandi) thatcorresponds to each one of the terms: the term "thing" (res) signifying both essence andintention "by the mode of habit", and the term "being" (ens) signifying essence andintention "by the mode of act". In this dissertation, I intend to clarify the conditions ofpossibility of the thesis defended by Siger of Brabant proceeding a careful commentaryof question 7, preceded by the due exposition of the relevant contemporary bibliographyconcerning the highlighted problem. In general, I argue that the commentators providerelevant readings of the text even though they do not clarify the way by which Sigerwould be able to defend his position providing, consequently, an opportunity to a closerreading of the text.
