Abstract in English
This thesis deals with the intelectual movement of the 1870's generation. 1 show that intelectual and political activities were essentially connected. Hence, the meaning of this movement should be related to the political context. The intelectual movement, thus, was a movement of contestation of the imperial arder. The movement's members did not have the sarne social origin, but they shared the experience of being marginalized politically. The movement's members mobilized a new political-intelectual repertoire and reinterpretate the political local tradition in arder to express their criticisms to the imperial status que, its institutions, its values and its forms of action. Positivism, darwinism, spencerianism and new liberalism are, in this way, modalities of reformism.
