Regulação institucional

Abstract in English
Founded in 1983, in Australia, Hillsong Church has attracted the attention of many researchers around the world. Known mainly for its musical influence, the denomination made the city of São Paulo, in 2016, the second to receive one of its branches in Latin America. Taking it as a unit of analysis, the research analyzes how the institution typifies and accentuates notable transformations of the pentecostalism to which it is affiliated. After presenting its history and expansion around the world, it addresses (1) its theological and practical emphasis on personal empowerment, (2) the ways in which it promotes the regulation of beliefs and behaviors of its adherents, (3) the materiality through which its religiosity is tangentied on in the place where it meets in the city of São Paulo. For this purpose, the investigation carries out a bibliographic balance, documental analysis, direct and participant observation of services, courses and small groups, formal and informal interviews, data collection about the church and its leadership on the internet and a questionnaire applied at a concert by one of its bands in Brazil. It starts from the hypothesis that, circumscribed to the changes that characterize religious modernity, Hillsong São Paulo represents theological, institutional and aesthetic re-elaborations dictated above all by the tendency towards individualization and subjectivity of religious beliefs. It observed that such changes attract and impact especially young individuals, the majority of those who attend.
