O presente trabalho analisa a gênese e a função do conceito de visão do mundo (Weltanschauung) na obra do sociólogo romeno-francês Lucien Goldmann (1913-1970), considerando a importância das questões que suscita para as ciências humanas. Resultado da conjugação da teoria marxista com as chamadas ciências do espírito, o conceito promovido por Goldmann pode ser considerado um índice da situação das ciências humanas em geral, e do marxismo em particular, em meados do século XX. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir da análise imanente do conjunto de escritos do autor, em língua original, permitindo a confrontação das suas considerações de ordem metodológica com as análises histórico-sociológicas empreendidas, o que tenciona explicitar a forma específica que o conceito de visão do mundo assumiu ao longo da produção goldmanniana, incluindo a relativização de seu uso pelo autor nos estudos de sociologia da literatura, efetuados na década de 1960.

This research analyzes the genesis and role of the concept of worldview (Weltanschauung) in the work of the Romanian-French Sociologist Lucien Goldmann (1913-1970), considering the importance of the questions it raises for a reflection upon the human sciences. The conjugation, promoted by Goldmann, of Marxist theory with the so-called sciences of the spirit can be considered one of the indicators of the situation of the human sciences in general, and of Marxism in particular, in the mid-twentieth century. The research was conducted from the immanent analysis of Goldmann's oeuvre, in its original language, allowing for the confrontation of his methodological considerations with his historical-sociological analyses, seeking to explain the specific form of emergence of the concept of worldview throughout the Goldmannian production, including the relativization of its use in his studies of sociology of literature carried out in the 1960s.
