Esta tese trata das representações de planta. Entre todas as formas de representação possíveis, foram selecionadas duas: a planta como maquina química e a planta como mercadoria. A representação da planta como maquina química teve origem no processo de análise do ser vivo. Esta levou a segmentos cada vez menores destes seres, passando, sucessivamente, pelas seguintes unidades: homem microcosmo, corpo individual, órgãos, tecidos, células, organoides celulares, núcleo celular, cromossomo, DNA, fragmentos do DNA. A representação da planta enquanto mercadoria, teve origem nas relações sociais que privilegiam as trocas mercantis. This thesis is about the representation of plants. Among all the possible forms of representation, two were selected: the plant as a Chemical machine and the plant as a merchandise. Plants representation as a Chemical machine was originated in the living being analysis process. This process evolved to smaller segments of these beings, sequentially passing through the following units: microcosm man, individual body, organs, tissues, cells, cellular organelles, cellular nucleus, chromosome, DNA, DNA fragments. Plants representation as a merchandise was originated in the social relationships that favor mercantile exchanges. The critic of this type of representation is based in a Marxist approach, but not limited to it
