As mudanças no status jurídico do aborto durante a onda progressista no Cone Sul: uma análise comparada
Keywords in Portuguese

Direitos sexuais e reprodutivos
Governos de esquerda
Política comparada

Changes in the legal status of abortion during the progressive wave in the Southern Cone: a comparative analysis

Left governments
Sexual and reproductive rights
Abstract in English
With the election of left-wing governments in the first two decades of the twenty-first century, there have been major developments in women's rights in Latin America. While some issues considered more acceptable to public opinion have been brought forward, others, more controversial, have progressed slowly, in some cases even backwards. Abortion policies are an example of this process. This paper conducts a comparative analysis of the disputes and transformations of the legal status of abortion in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay during the left turn in the region (2000 2020), identifying which sets of conditions have shaped the debates around the topic
