O presente trabalho revisita um estudo clássico sobre a direita janista e malufista dos anos 1980, que encontrou um bastião do voto conservador que se estende do início da Zona Leste até a Zona Norte no município de São Paulo. Em 2018, esta mesma região voltou a se destacar como base eleitoral, desta vez para a eleição de Jair Bolsonaro como presidente da República. Por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas com cabos eleitorais bolsonaristas que moram nessa região e observação etnográfica em manifestações de direita na cidade, a pesquisa buscou estabelecer elos entre aquela direita nos anos 1980 e a atual. O trabalho encontrou uma direita plural, mas convicta de si, sem vergonha de dizer seu nome, que ressurgiu no cenário político conforme se identificou e se uniu em torno de uma candidatura competitiva de um político de direita como Bolsonaro. Reforçada pelo antipetismo, por um sentimento antissistema e pelo desejo de ordem - que flertam com o autoritarismo - simbolizado pelos militares, encontrou-se uma direita bolsonarista engajada por uma agenda liberal na economia, amparadas por um sentimento meritocrata e avessa a políticas redistributivas, e por um conservadorismo moral, em reação às mudanças culturais e aos avanços nas últimas décadas conquistados por minorias políticas, como mulheres, negros e LGBQIA+.

The present work revisits a classic study about the Janista and Malufista right of the 1980s, which found a bastion of the conservative vote that extends from the beginning of the East Zone to the North Zone in the city of São Paulo. In 2018, this same region once again stood out as an electoral base, this time for the election of Jair Bolsonaro as President of the Republic. Through semi-structured interviews with Bolsonaro's campaigners who live in this region and ethnographic observation of right-wing demonstrations in the city, the research sought to establish links between that right in the 1980s and the current one. The work found a plural, but staunch right, unashamed to say its name, which resurfaced on the political scene as it identified itself and united around a competitive candidacy of a right-wing politician like Bolsonaro. Reinforced by antipetismo, an anti-establishment feeling, and the desire for order - which flirt with authoritarianism - symbolized by the military, there was a Bolsonarista right engaged by a liberal agenda in the economy, supported by a meritocratic sentiment and averse to redistributive policies, and by a moral conservatism, in reaction to cultural changes and the advances made in recent decades by political minorities such as women, blacks and LGBQIA+.
