Esta tese de doutorado dá sequência aos esforços de pesquisa que iniciei em um trabalho anterior (Justiça liberal: argumentos liberais contra o neoliberalismo). Desta vez me empenhei, além de retomar a discussão da teoria da justiça proposta por John Rawls, em dar um tratamento muito mais detalhado a algumas das principais teorias políticas normativas que se propõem como alternativas àquilo que aqui estou denominando "justiça igualitária"
