Abstract in English
Introduction: The use of serious games to enhance teaching and learning is studied in different areas of knowledge. Nevertheless, in technical nursing education there are few scientific reports about the use of games and the challenges that the incorporation of these technologies brings to teachers. Objective: To know the perception and use of games as tools for teaching-learning in technical nursing education. Method: Research with a qualitative and exploratory approach. The research scenario was schools with a technical nursing course in the city of Curitiba-PR. Fourteen teachers from technical education in nursing participated. Data were collected through semi- structured interviews and analyzed through discourse analysis and in the light of teaching-learning theories. This study complies with the principles of resolution 466/12 of the National Council of Ethics in Research. Results: The discourses gave rise to three analytical categories: Organizational structure of the technical nursing course, Evaluation of experiences and Teaching-learning process in professional education. Most of the interviewed teachers reported having already used games as a strategy in their teaching activity. The discourses indicated teachers' good willingness to use these technologies as a teaching-learning tool. There was good reception by the students for this strategy. The difficulties pointed out in the use of games permeate access to computers, internet and physical structure in general; the construction of spaces for discussion and training by the institutions, enabling the teacher to formulate and test new methodological tools. The discourses about the teacher's role show the characteristic of teaching-learning based on games to enhance the student's curiosity and independence and propose the teacher to act by balancing the playful factor and the competition present in games with the pedagogical component, sometimes motivating more one or the other. Teachers recognize differences in the receptivity to games in different age groups, where the potential of the youngest is the ease in understanding and using the sets of rules while in the more mature groups the understanding of the pedagogical component, of playing to learn, seems to be more direct. Conclusions: The use of educational games enhances teaching-learning by arousing the student's curiosity, promoting active posture, decision-making, with the security of a fictitious world. For the advancement in the use of this type of educational technologies, we depend on structural support from the institutions, providing laboratories and equipment, promoting the discussion of the curriculum and the methodologies used, Besides valuing the teaching-learning built through games. Teaching and learning using games can be an alternative for the construction of meaningful learning, since the more students reflect and take an active role in their learning, the more subsumptions are moved and modified.
