Abstract in Portuguese

Abstract in English
Games are intellectual technologies capable of changing the cognitive process of individuals, by stimulating attention and creativity. Educators should critically reflect about their use, considering pedagogical standards that strengthen the construction of knowledge. The social interactionist theory of Lev Semionóvich Vygotsky was used as theoretical framework in this study. Objective: to produce a board game as an innovative setting in the education of nursing professors. Method: applied research, of technological production, developed in the undergraduate nursing course of the School of Nursing, University of São Paulo. The game was produced using the Game Design method, by Paul Schuytema, which divides the development of a game into three stages. 1. Game Concept: in which the main elements of the game, such as objectives and theme, are created. 2. Game Design Document (GDD): which is a project describing the game in its entirety, and registering the definitions built in the game concept. 3. Game Development: which contemplates the construction of the game that was only conceived up to this point. Results: In the game concept stage, the creation of the idea and the selection of the game theme were based on an analysis of the pedagogical project of the undergraduate nursing course. The setting chosen was the city of London, from where ten touristic places were chosen: Palace of Westminster, Notting Hill, the London Zoo, Trafalgar Square, the British Museum, Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, the Florence Nightingale Museum, Hamleys and Buckingham Palace. The challenges created were based on the identification of dilemmas present in the theme of the pedagogical teaching practice, and in the settings of London. In the London Trip game, once the character completes his undergraduate nursing course, he travels to London and interacts with situations that are associated with experiences and challenges daily faced by the professor. The game will allow the player to produce meanings with pedagogical practice through metaphors. Each touristic point has a challenge to be conquered, and an associated metaphor. The metaphors present in the game approach the following themes: social competences of conflict management; cultural formation in the educational process; professor-student interaction and relationship; didactic-curricular teaching knowledge; teaching knowledge related to the sociohistorical context; ethical dimension as a teaching competence; the mediating professor in the teaching-learning process; technological advances in teaching; the playful dimension and the importance of focus and attention in the professors performance. In the GDD, the construction of the game was systematized, and the story, settings, objects, flow and rules of the game were described in detail. The stage of Game Development comprised the projection of the boards, which were designed in the Corel Photo-paint X7 and Paint programs. Conclusion: the production of the London Trip game resulted in a powerful pedagogical tool, since it privileges the education of future nursing professors in a critic, collaborative and playful manner, focusing on the construction of the knowledge necessary for strengthening attitudinal, socioeducational and ethical-political competences, which are inherent to the teaching practice.
