Abstract in English
Objective: to evaluate the prognosis of the maxillomandibular relationship of mixed to permanent dentition using the Goslon index in patients with FLPU at the Hospital de Rehabilitação de Anomalias Craniofacials, University of São Paulo, Brazil (HRACUSP). Material and Method: Digitized models of 367 treated FLPU patients were evaluated at two times: T1, in the mixed dentition phase (7.2 years on average), and T2, in the permanent dentition phase (16.4 years on average). The sample was divided into three subgroups (A, B and C) considering the initial golon index. The A (Goslon 1 and 2 indices), B (Goslon 3 indices) and C (Goslon 4 and 5 indices). The evaluation of the percentage distribution of each group in T1 and T2 was carried out, as well as the evolution of each subgroup. Verification of the percentage of individuals who underwent orthognathic surgery was checked. Result: At T1 the distribution in each subgroup was: A (26.2%); B (20.7%); and C (53.1%). From T1 to T2, in subgroup A, 68.7% remained in A; the remainder evolved to B (17,7%) and C (13,4%). In subgroup B, 40.7% evolved to A; 25% remained B and 34.3% to C. In subgroup C, 22% evolved to A; 8,7% evolved to B and 69,3% remained in C. Conclusion: Most of the individuals in subgroup A (G1 and G2) (86.46%) had a satisfactory to good prognosis at T2. Most of the individuals in subgroup B (G3) (65.8%) had a satisfactory to good prognosis at T2. Most of the individuals in subgroup C (G4 and G5) (69.3%) had a poor prognosis at T2.
