Keywords in Portuguese
Inteligência
Neuropsicologia
Síndrome de Pierre Robin

Abstract in English
This study aimed to characterize the cognitive performance of a Brazilian sample of 21 children between 6 and 11 years of age diagnosed with isolated Robin Sequence (IRS). The evaluation of the intelligence construct was performed using Ravens Coloured Progressive Matrices (RAVEN) and the Wechsler Abbreviated Intelligence Scale (WASI). The results showed that the intellectual performance of this sample of children with IRS was compatible with the average of the national population. No correlations were identified between intellectual performance, the type of treatment for respiratory distress and the period of the first hospital stay. Positive correlations were found between the WASI results with the socioeconomic classification, the type of school administration and the level of education of the parents. The results of both instruments showed a positive correlation with the level of maternal education. These data suggest that changes in respiratory, food and sleep functions presented by the population with SRI did not influence intellectual performance
