Esta pesquisa teve como principal objetivo investigar o processo de construção da resiliência das mulheres de origem nordestina do bairro Novo Recreio, Guarulhos-SP, tenta também identificar elementos de empoderamento. Foram utilizados nos procedimentos metodológicos, técnicas participativas: observação participante e a História Oral. Seguiu-se referências sobre resiliência urbana em contexto de insustentabilidade e vulnerabilidade socioambiental, processo de periferização e migração das mulheres nordestinas em/para São Paulo, urbanização, participação social e protagonismo feminino. Foram feitas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com quatro mulheres por meio das histórias de vidas; que juntadas às observações de campo, foi realizada análise de dados, aportada na técnica de análise de conteúdo. Os principais resultados obtidos partem das histórias de sofrimento na infância e adolescência, tais como casamentos infantis, impossibilidade de estudar e a vivência da/na marginalidade urbana. Pode-se considerar que as vivências obtidas pelas mulheres no Nordeste colaboram no potencial criativo e existencial, desenvolvendo mecanismos de superação e adaptação.

This research aimed to investigate the process of resilience building of women from northeastern that moved to Novo Recreio neighborhood, in Guarulhos-SP, and also try to identify elements of empowerment. Participatory instruments were used in the methodological procedures, such as participant observation and Oral History. References were based on urban resilience in a context of unsustainability and socio-environmental vulnerability, process of peripherization and migration of northeastern women in/to São Paulo, urbanization, social participation and female protagonism. Semi-structured interviews were performed with four women through life stories; that assimilated with the field observation, data analysis was made, supported by the content analysis technique. The main results obtained starts from stories of suffering in childhood and adolescence, such as child marriages, the impossibility of studying and the experience of living in an urban marginality. The main results arising from the experiences induced by women in Northeast entailed in creative and existential potential, developing components of resilience and adaptation.
