Abstract in English
Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic changed the plans and daily lives of the world's population. During the pandemic, restrictive measures were adopted by governments in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus, which led to a deepening virtualization of life, leading a large portion of the population to increased hours in front of screens for study, work, entertainment and socializing. Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze the physical activity experience of residents of the central region of São Paulo during the restrictive measures of the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: Openended interviews were conducted with 16 participants recruited through a Facebook group of central São Paulo residents. Some interviews were illustrated by photos brought by the participants based on an adaptation of the photovoice data generation technique. All meetings with participants were conducted through the Google meeting platform. Limitations of the study were found, mainly in relation to meetings produced at a distance, which hindered the co-construction of knowledge about the social context experienced. There was also a limit in the depth of certain topics because, due to the emotional load experienced in this period, physical activity did not seem to be the topic of interest for some participants in the interviews. Results: As a result, especially material and affective aspects can be seen in the narratives about the physical activity experienced during the pandemic period, in addition to the record of this experience, linked to other aspects of daily life when dealing with the effects of the pandemic on ways of life. Conclusions: This study contributes to the field of Public Health in understanding experiences in times of health emergency to inform health policies and to the field of Physical Education by prompting discussions on the subject from the point of view of the experience of embodied movement.
