Abstract in English
The analysis of the multiple interrelations between the Public Health Bachelor and the "worlds of labor" is the main objective of this doctoral dissertation. The expression "worlds of labor" regarding health professionals refers to elements that are influence this activity over time such as diversity, plurality, and heterogeneity. Brazilian Public Health historiography acknowledges projects or guidelines for the education of health professionals that emphasize contextual elements and analytical categories that represent six different historical periods since 1889. This research is of qualitative nature and was carried out between 2019 and 2021 and included the Covid-19 pandemic. Data collection was done through participant observation of a health professional´s practice in a State Health Department in a Brazilian state during three months in 2019. The research also considered the analysis of 16 experiences of bachelors in public health workers who fought against the pandemic as well as data available on digital platforms in 2020 and information retrieved from an interview with 12 public health bachelors during the pandemic in 2021. Data analysis that was done considering Bardin's (2006) content analysis technique The researcher´s role as a technical worker in the fight against Covid-19 for six months, and other personal characteristics, reinforce possible reflexivity and the current of state of thought on the subject. The work documented and discussed the systematization of the work routine of a sanitarian: their activities, means, necessary articulation, alterations and challenges, active militancy, and worker's health, debating positive and negative aspects of Public Health education, amongst other issues. Graduation in Public Health presents ruptures and knowledge permanence, considers practices of prior Public Health educational endeavors in Brazil. The training of health professionals at the undergraduate level is influenced by the struggle for the Right to Health, other guidelines of the Brazilian Sanitary Reform Movement and is anchored in evaluative bases. It goes beyond educational contents, it deals with tools and is aimed at focused on the student's "knowing how to be", so that they are encouraged to create/think, analyze and evaluate methods. It was seen that the health worker's performance is influenced by their educational project, by macro and micro contextual elements in their workplace such as health policy conducts, institutional culture, availability of financial resources, institutionalization and organization of Public Health, economy, territorial characteristics, political disputes, power and labor relations, management models, the country's sanitary moment and social factors inequality and inequities. These influences make the health worker produce relative autonomy at work but can generate mental suffering. On the other hand, the presence of active role militants in this environment, generate hope amongst the adversity. Workers manage to defend the right to health and for a universal public and quality health system that considers the promotion of life and health as a whole.
