Este trabalho propõe-se a compreender a percepção dos trabalhadores sobre o desemprego e a estruturação do trabalho cooperativado. Utilizando a metodologia de histórias de vida, baseia-se em entrevistas com parte dos trabalhadores reunidos em cooperativa de catadores de material recicláveI. Na análise dos depoimentos, chega-se a algumas conclusões gerais que representam um misto das identidades da condição de cooperados, de catadores e da condição de trabalhadores com carteira assinada. Essas percepções podem ser agrupadas em dois conjuntos: no primeiro, evoluem para uma elaboração do trabalho em cooperativa, nos momentos em que o trabalho cooperativado mantêm-se mais estruturado, com a relativa garantia de uma remuneração básica, uma certa estabilidade no trabalho e ambiente harmônico; no segundo, as percepções tendem para o desligamento da cooperativa quando o trabalho cooperativo está mais desestruturado, com instabilidade de remuneração, ameaça à continuidade do trabalho e falta de harmonia no ambiente. Porém, a expectativa positiva com relação ao trabalho cooperativado é muito presente, mesmo nas pessoas tendendo ao desligamento, sendo o trabalho em cooperativa valorizado pela "ausência do patrão", pela qualidade no relacionamento, pela qualidade na relação com o trabalho e a pela valorização da cidadania. Esta expectativa é fortemente positiva, aparecendo pouquíssimas queixas, que só podem ser percebidas em uma análise mais cuidadosa de suas falas.

This work proposes to understand the perception of workers on unemployment and cooperative work structure. Employing the methodology of life histories, the paper is based on interviews with some workers reunited in a co-op based institution for recicable collectors. In the analysis of their reports, it is possible to reach some general conclusions which represent a mixture of identities of their situation as co-op workers and their condition of registered workers. These perceptions may be grouped in two sets: in the first, they evolve to a portrayal of the co-op work, in the moments in which co-op work seems to be more structured, with the relative assurance of some stability at work and harmony in the working environment; in the second set, perceptions tend to favor abandonment of the coop institution, when work has a looser or weak structure, with instability of wages, menace to the continuity of work and lack of harmony in the working environment. Nevertheless, the positive expectative related to co-op work is very keen, even in people who tend to sever connections with these institutions, being co-op work valued by the "absence of any boss", by the quality ofthe relationships, by the quality ofthe relationship with the work in itself and by valuing the dimension of citizenship. This expectative is strongly positive, disclosing very few complaints, which can only be perceived in a more careful analysis of their speech.
