Temas relativos à experiência individual e coletiva vivida em relação ao HIV/Aids têm sido objeto de reflexão das diversas áreas do conhecimento aplicadas ao campo da saúde. Na passagem para o século XXI, tal assunto é discutido sob outras perspectivas em complementaridade aos estudos epidemiológicos, quando a psicologia social, a sociologia e a antropologia lançam mão de seus aportes teóricos para compreender essa experiência como produto da diversidade cultural, marcada pelas relações estabelecidas entre as pessoas vivendo com o HIV/Aids e os grupos sociais que integram. Analiso aqui algumas histórias das experiências vividas por homens que fazem sexo com homens, a partir de suas narrativas, relacionadas à sua condição de soropositividade. Busquei compreender os significados atribuídos pelos entrevistados às suas experiências como pessoas vivendo com o HIV e os elementos que constituem e dão sentido a essa experiência. Adotei um procedimento teórico-metodológico que compreende uma interpretação da descrição das experiências vividas por estes indivíduos. Foram realizadas cinco entrevistas, apoiadas em roteiro I temático, a partir do qual estes homens foram convidados a apresentar o desenrolar de sua experiência de vida como homens que fazem sexo com homens e soropositivos. A interpretação das narrativas colhidas aponta a dificuldade que estes homens encontram para falar a respeito da sua soropositividade; a permanência de alguns dos estereótipos concebidos socialmente a respeito de sua experiência como homens que fazem sexo com homens e que vivem com o HIV; a perspectiva de superação da compreensão de si como um "outro" diferente, sob a égide da igualdade juridicamente instituída a partir da reivindicação de Direitos Humanos e um sentimento ambíguo em relação a uma extensa rede de apoio para viver e conviver com o HIV - como família, religião, trabalho, companheiros e parceiros sexuais, os serviços de saúde e seus profissionais e as diversas instituições que os acolhem. A elaboração das experiências relatadas por estes homens que fazem sexo com homens vivendo com HIV, está relacionada a um período de suas vidas onde aconteceram mudanças significativas, tais como a descoberta de uma sexualidade diferente, a assunção dessa sexualidade frente a vida coletiva e sua nova condição em relação ao HIV. Existe uma co-habitação de sentidos e significados atribuídos à essa dupla experiência como homens que fazem sexo com homens e soropositivos, isto é, ora se super-valorizam, ora se subestimam; entendem que portar o HIV/Aids estabelece algumas limitações e o exercício da vida é o de superação; percebem o preconceito e vivenciam a discriminação em diferentes momentos, inclusive nas ONG's e, principalmente, nas instituições de saúde, embora inserir-se nestes setores revela-se de fundamental importância para uma ascensão social e melhoria das condições de vida. Neste sentido, a intersecção das experiências sexuais como homossexual e de pessoa vivendo com o HIV é encarada como um espaço político, de negociação da diferença.

Themes connecting individual and collective experiences with HIV/Aids have become the object of attention in various scientific areas in the field of health. At the turn of the 21st century, these issues are being discussed in the context of epidemiological as well as of social psychological studies; sociology and anthropology use their theoretical bases to understand these experiences as a product of cultural diversity, marked through the relationships between people who live with HIV/Aids and the social groups in which they are integrated. The present work analyses some stories lived by men who have sex with men, through their individual narratives and linked to their condition of being HIV positive. I was trying to understand the significance that the interviewed person gave to their tife as an infected person and the constitutional elements that give sense to this experience. I used a theoretical and methodological approach that concerns itself with interpreting the individuals description of their own experiences. Five interviews were made, each following a thematic script, in which five subjects told their stories about their lifes as men having sex with individuals who are positive. The analysis of these narratives shows the difficulties these men have in talking about being HIV positive; the persistence of stereotypes relating to having sex with men who are HIV positive; their coming to terms with realization that they are somehow "different" from other people, but at the same time they have an equality in the context of Human Rights; and the ambiguous feelings they have towards the various support networks that are there for people with HIV - support networks established by the families, religion, work, friends and sexual partners, the county' s health services and other institutions including NGO's. The interviews concentrate on specific periods of life when significant changes happen. For example, the subjects tell of their discovery of a different type of sexuality, the "coming out" of this sexuality in the society and their new relation to HIV. There is a juxtaposition of feelings and significances linked to these parallel experiences, sometimes they overestimate themselves - feeling that they belong to a special group - and sometimes they suffer from a negative self image because they have sex with men and men who are HIV positive. The interviews show that living with the virus is to live with many limitations and to overcome these limitations turns life into a challenge; they show how it is to live with preconceptions and discrimination in various situations, including with the NGO's and, specially, with the health institutions; and the interviews show that being involved with these institutions is of fundamental importance in improving the standing in society of HIV positive individuals and in improving their quality of life. In this sense, the intersection of homosexual and HIV positive identities is placed as a political arena, where differences like normal/abnormal, healthy/unhealthy, equal/unequal are negotiated.
