Objetivo: analisar a representação social da violência utilizando um fórum de discussão da Internet, criado a partir de um comentário da apresentadora de TV, Hebe Camargo, sobre o homicídio de um casal de adolescentes em novembro de 2003. O fórum foi criado pelo provedor UOL (www.uol.com.br) e contém depoimentos de internautas sobre o comentário de Hebe Camargo, a violência urbana e a redução da maioridade penal - já que Xampinha, um dos assassinos, tem 16 anos. O conjunto dos depoimentos desses fóruns, fornece um rico material para analisar temas atuais da sociedade, como a violência urbana, contando com a rapidez e amplitude da internet. Método: a metodologia do Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo será utilizada para analisar o discurso da violência presente no fórum. Conclusão: por meio da metodologia, é possível analisar a representação social que descreve o pensamento da coletividade. A violência urbana, uma questão de saúde pública, é um dos desafios da hiper modernidade, por isso, as formas que uma coletividade pensa, age e responde à ela nos dão subsídios para melhor compreender essa sociedade e propor soluções.

Objective: To analyse the social representation of violence through an Internet discussion forum. The Internet forum was created following a comment made by Brazilian television presenter Hebe Camargo, after the homicide of an adolescent couple in Brazil in November of 2003. The forum was established by the Internet provider UOL (www.uol.com.br) and includes the opinions of users on the comment made by Hebe Camargo, on urban violence and on a reduction of the age at which minors can be tried and detained as adults. One of the assassins of the couple, Xampinha, was 16 years-old at the time that he committed the crime. The opinions made provide for rich material for an analysis of current events in Brazilian society, such as urban violence, especially when taking into account the speed and amplitude of the Internet. Method: The methodology of the Discourse of the Collective Subject will be used to analyse the discourse on violence present in the forum. Conclusion: Through the methodology, it is possible to analyse the social representation that describes collective thought. Urban violence, a question of public health, is one of the challenges of hyper modernity. As such, the ways in which the collective thinks, acts and responds to urban violence provide us with the means to better understand our society and to propose solutions.
