Este trabalho representa uma contribuição ao estudo para recebimento dos resíduos liquidos industriais pelos sistemas públicos de esgotos. Inicialmente foram enfocados aspectos a serem considerados na caracterização dos resíduos líquidos industriais a apresentadas sugestões dos parâmetros a serem analisados por tipo de indústria e estudados os efeitos destes despejos nos sistemas de esgotos e, os meios de controle na indústria para reduzir ou mesmo eliminar o efeito da descarga de seus efluentes. A seguir foram discutidos os fatores de decisão para destino dos despejos industriais, bem como considerações básicas para o projeto das ETEs e as medidas de pré-tratamento necessárias, por tipo de indústria, para lançamento de seus despejos nos sistemas de esgotos. Finalmente, foram abordados aspectos administrativos, apresentando subsídios para elaboração de regulamentos, do contrato municipal-industrial e para cobrança de tarifas.

This work is a presentation of a study concerning the disposal of industrial wastewater into a public sewage system. The aspects to be consideres in the characterization of industrial wastes have been discussed and suggestions have been made about the parameters to be analyzed for each type of industry. The effects of these wastes on the sewage system and the means of control by industry to reduce or eliminate the effect of its waste products have been considered. The decision factors about the ultimate disposal of industrial waste have been analyzed, as well as basic considerations for the Sewage Treatment Plant project and the pretreatment steps to be taken by each type of industry before disposing of their wastes into public sewage system. Finally, the administrative aspects have been discussed in terms of the elaboration of ordinances , of a contract between industrial and municipal management and of the establishment of schedules for charges.
