Objetivo: avaliar o estado nutricional e fatores associados de crianças matriculadas em 4 creches conveniadas ao programa Ação Criança. Método: O delineamento do estudo é transversal, com coletas de dados primários e secundários. Adotou-se como padrão de referência a curva do National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) para o índice peso/altura e altura/idade. Considerou-se em déficit nutricional e déficit estatural as crianças que apresentaram valores desses índices dois desvios-padrão abaixo do valor mediano da população de referência, e, obesas as que apresentaram dois desvios-padrão acima. Resultados: A amostra constituiu-se de 448 crianças com média de idade de 52,6 meses (±17,72), sendo 52,7% do sexo feminino. Verificou-se que 1,4% dos meninos e 0,8% das meninas encontravam-se com baixo peso e 7,1% e 7,2% obesidade, respectivamente, sem diferenças, estatisticamente significativas entre os sexos. O déficit estatural foi encontrado em 3,6% das crianças estudas. Foram observadas diferenças estatisticamente significantes entre estado nutricional e peso ao nascer e entre estado nutricional e renda familiar per capita. Conclusão: Os estabelecimentos de educação e/ou recreação constituem-se no meio mais acessível para se detectar o déficit estatatural e a obesidade, portanto, reforça-se a importância do monitoramento do estado nutricional com intervenções de controle.

Objective: evaluate the nutricional state and describe factors associated of children registered in 4 day-care centers from Ação Criança's Program. Method: This study is ross-sectional using primary and secondary data. The arched of the National Center of Health Statistics (NCHS) was adopted as reference, for the index weight/height and height/weight. The children were considered in nutritional deficits the ones that presented height/weight two standard deviation below the median value of the reference population and obese, the ones that presented weight/height two standard deviation above. Results: It was analisated 448 children with average age of 52,6 months (±17,72), being 52.7% of the feminine sex. There were 1,4% prevalence of the boys and 0,8% of the girls having low weight and 7.1% and 7.2% obesity, respectively, without significant between sexes. The nutritional deficity was found in 3,6% of the children. It was observed statistic significant differences between nutricional status and birth weight and between nutricional status and family income. Conclusion: The establishments of education and/or recreation consist in half the accessible one to detect the nutricional status and the obesity therefore, it is important to carry on studies of nutricional status with interventions of control.
