Abstract in Portuguese
Todavia, as calorias diárias, lipídios, fibra, potássio e ferro estiveram abaixo do recomendado (p<0.05) e proteínas/Kg peso, carboidratos, cálcio e vitamina C acima do recomendado (p<0.05).

Abstract in English
Children with congenital heart disease are usually undemourished and present some degree of organ functional and/or structural compromising. There is also, as a result of base illness and associated illnesses symptomatology, the deficiency of nutrients intake, also due to the control of liquids some patients require and which restrain the nutritional addition. The purpose of this paper was assessing the food consumption of children with congenital heart disease admitted in pediatric cardiologyc unit at "Hospital Auxiliar de Cotoxó, Hospital das Clínicas da FMUSP". The nutritional assessment was conducted through anthropometrics measurements (weight for age - P/I, weight for height - P/E, height for age - E/I and brain circunference - CC percentiles by the NCHS 2000 curve, and analyzed according to WHO 1995 standards) and through the consumption of food and nutrients (food consumption was recorded over a period of three days using the weighing direct method and calculated calories and nutrients using the Virtual Nutri software. Malnutrition was observed with hight frequency, where 35 infants were malnourished by P/I percentil, 24 by E/I percentil and 31 by P/E percentil. The consumption of calories per weight kilo, proteins, sodium and vitamin A were within the recommended levels (p < 0,05). However, was found that the levels of diary calories, lipids, fiber, potassium and iron were below the recommended levels (p < 0,05) and the levels of proteins per weight kilo, carbohydrates, calcium and vitamin C were found to be above the recommended levels (p < 0,05). This results demonstrate the importance of monitoring the individual nutritional follow-up of cardiac children, in order to avoid aggravation of the undernourishment status, which is characteristic of the pathology.
