Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar a atuação e importância da família na escolha dos filhos de ambos os sexos pelo ensino técnico integrado ao ensino médio, como ocorre o processo seletivo para o ingresso nessa modalidade de ensino, a inserção futura no mercado de trabalho e/ou a continuidade do processo de escolarização mediante o acesso ao ensino superior. Os dados foram coletados através de levantamento junto à escola dos alunos que ingressaram nos anos de 2016 a 2018, de entrevistas gravadas e transcritas na íntegra, conforme roteiro semi-estruturado com dez alunos, cinco do sexo feminino e cinco do sexo masculino, matriculados no terceiro ano do curso técnico integrado ao ensino médio em Administração (ETIM) da Escola Ângelo Cavalheiro situada na cidade de Serrana-SP, integrantes de famílias cujos pais tenham renda de até três salários mínimos. Também foram entrevistados o atual diretor e ex-diretores e coordenadores pedagógicos da escola e familiares do fundador desse estabelecimento de ensino. Os referenciais empíricos coletados foram analisados de acordo com referenciais da sociologia da educação e da antropologia. O presente trabalho abordou o tripé: família, escola e aluno. Foi possível concluir que a família exerce influência nas escolhas dos alunos e compreender fatores que possibilitam a longevidade escolar e a forma como o discente lida com os conflitos surgidos neste contexto e o ingresso de alguns alunos no ensino superior.

This research aimed to investigate the role and importance of the family in the choice of children of both sexes by technical education integrated to high school, as occurs the selective process for entering this type of education, the future insertion in the labor market and / or the continuity of the schooling process through access to higher education. Data were collected through a survey at the school of students who entered from 2016 to 2018, interviews recorded and transcribed in full, according to a semi-structured script with ten students, five female and five male, enrolled in the third year of the technical course integrated with the high school in Administration (ETIM) of the Ângelo Cavalheiro School located in the city of Serrana-SP, members of families whose parents have income of up to three minimum wages. Also interviewed were the current principal and former principals and pedagogical coordinators of the school and family members of the founder of this school. The collected empirical references were analyzed according to references from the sociology of education and anthropology. The present work addressed the tripod: family, school and student. It was possible to conclude that the family influences students' choices and understand factors that enable school longevity and the way students deal with conflicts that arise in this context and the entrance of some students in higher education.
