Abstract in English
The "Guide to Christian Schools" was written in the 18th century by the French Catholic cleric J. B. de La Salle. It is a manual aimed at establishing norms to ensure the efficiency of the schools he created and directed, dedicated to popular education. The objective of this dissertation is to analyze the contributions of this work to a critical reflection on the trends of education today. The first three chapters discuss the problematic situations faced by La Salle in the social and educational context of his time and present the most significant passages from the "Guide to Christian Schools", a text little known outside the circle of Lasallian educators. Using the methodology of rhetorical analysis, the manual is characterized by the metaphor "determined and determinable route", which expresses the thesis that the educational process requires prior planning and full control of the behaviors and subjectivity of those involved. The fourth chapter compares La Salle with other thinkers whose proposals are described by the metaphor "indeterminate route" and discusses the meaning of the Lasallian proposal in the modern era and today. La Salle's ideas are part of a line of thought that does not debate the purposes of education, only prescribes norms for the proper functioning of schools, in order to facilitate the measurement of the educational process. The conclusions indicate the need to overcome the dualism between popular education and good quality education, for the benefit of democratic education.
