Abstract in English
This study presents the synthesis, purification and structural characterization of the N-(4-pyridyl)-1,8-naphthalimide (NI-py) and the trinuclear ruthenium complex [Ru3O(CH3COO)6(C17H10N2O2)3]PF6. Through application of computational methods, the band attribution of the absorption electronic spectra of all species were further studied by means of time-dependent DFT spectra simulations and visualization of transitions in terms of the Natural Transition Orbitals involved. Investigation of solvatochromism for the π > π* absorption band of the N-(4-pyridyl)-1,8-naphthalimide ligand has shown dependence on the solvent polarity, measured in terms of the ET(30) parameter, with different behaviors being detected for protic and aprotic solvents. In terms of ET(30), a positive solvatochromism was detected for the NI-py ligand absorption band. The same solvatochromic behavior was observed for a band in the [Ru3O(CH3COO)6(C17H10N2O2)3]PF6 complex - the band attributed to the overlap of the coordinated NI-py intraligand and the cluster to ligand charge transfer band. Also, the assembly of aggregates in both solution and solid phase was studied for the non-coordinated ligand.
