No cotidiano de sala de aula professores deparam-se com alunos muitas vezes desmotivados, que não veem sentido nos conteúdos apresentados. Então, preocupados com a aprendizagem de seus alunos, docentes procuram diversificar as atividades desenvolvidas em sala de aula, buscando despertar nos estudantes o interesse pelo estudo. No ensino de matemática, este é um desafio constante, visto que grande parte dos alunos não vêem aplicação ao seu cotidiano dos conhecimentos adquiridos em sala de aula, desvinculando-se assim a matemática aprendida no ambiente escolar da matemática aplicada em sua vida. Este trabalho teve por objetivo verificar se a aprendizagem da matemática embasada na economia doméstica, visando o consumo consciente, apresenta melhora no desenvolvimento de habilidades e competências matemáticas nos alunos dos nonos anos do ensino fundamental da escola pública Jesuíno de Arruda da cidade de São Carlos, SP. Para isto foram utilizadas, como ferramentas, a internet com pesquisas relativas a consumo, economia e gasto consciente; planilhas do Excel com orçamento familiar, além de textos diversos, tais como: planejamento, consumo doméstico, aplicações financeiras, cartões de crédito e débito entre outros, que foram lidos e discutidos em sala de aula.

In the routine of the classroom, teachers have to deal with students who are often unmotivated and that cannot see meaning in the classroom content. Concerned with the learning of their students, teachers try to diversify the activities they develop in the classroom aiming to foster their interest in the study. In mathematics teaching this is a constant challenge, since great part of the students cannot see the application of what is taught to their routine and so they disassociate the mathematics they learn at school to the one applied in their lives. This study aimed to verify whether the mathematics learning grounded in home economics for conscious consuming improves the math skill development of students. The participants were students from the ninth grade of the public school Jesuino de Arruda that is located in São Carlos, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Some tools used in this work were the internet for research about consumption, economy and conscious spending; Excel spreadsheets with household budget; and some texts about planning, domestic consumption, investments, credit and debt card among others which were read and discussed in classroom
