Abstract in English
This work aims to provide some support to students better understanding of Mathematics for Basic Education, working on essential themes for midle school, which are often neglected or poorly developed at this stage of education. For this, a teaching sequence on mental calculus, and another on areas and perimeters were created. The proposed teaching-learning methodology is mathematical investigation, associated with exploratory activities, and it is based on Vygotsky's theories of development. It is expected that such a sequence promotes an improvement in the students' ways of reasoning, to solve mathematical activities with more speed and precision, as well as greater intellectual autonomy to choose the best way to reach the results.
