Abstract in English
This dissertation presents the first implementation of the Multiscale Robin Coupled Method (MRCM) with local H(div) solvers on unstructured triangular meshes and complex geometries on the opensource finite element platform FEniCS. The implementation was developed and tested on two-dimensional problems. Firstly, the implementation of a fine grid solver was validated, considering a convergence study for a problem with manufactured solution, followed by a comparative study with a finite volume method in a problem with a heterogeneous permeability field. Secondly, the implementation of the MRCM on the finite element plataform was introduced and several numerical studies were carried out. Initially, a case with smooth permeability field and a manufactured solution was considered, so as to assess the convergence properties of the method. Next, a case with heterogeneous permeability field was address to evaluate the accuracy of the approximation when compared to the fine grid solution of the problem, and finally, a case involving complex geometries. The numerical study in this work shows the potential of the opensource plataform FEniCS to implement sophisticated numerical methods of great interest for the Oil & Gas industry.
